Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy in Germany

Engaging with the foreign cultural and educational policy of the Federal Republic of Germany is part of my ongoing habilitation project. The complex interplay of topics surrounding migration and education is not only intended to provide a historical backdrop to current debates but also holds significant potential for understanding pedagogical relations in times of intensifying geopolitical conflicts.

Goethe Institutes as Transnational Educational Spaces – On the Relationship Between “Education” and Foreign Cultural Policy at the Goethe Institutes of the 1970s and 1980s
This provisional title describes my habilitation project, in which I aim to analyze the educational and cultural policy of the Federal Republic of Germany through the lens of the Goethe Institutes of the 1970s and 1980s. Further details on the methodology, sources, and analytical approaches will follow as they become more concretely defined. Initial research and analyses are planned for this year (2025).
